Marian Gaydos started BEADiction in 1997. Originally, she was fascinated with the beauty and variety of beads she encountered. When her hobby of designing with beads evolved into a full time pursuit, the business name reflected her original fascination with beads.
Over time, she learned some wire-wrapping techniques that allowed her to create pendants with bails from a variety of raw materials. Utilizing 14K gold, 14K goldfilled and/or sterling silver wire, she "cages" freeform or cut and faceted pieces of gemstones, fossils, natural crystals, man-made crystals, handmade glass, blister pearls, wood, stones, and shells into pendants and centerpieces for bracelets. Her sense of design leads to the creation of jewelry where the chosen centerpiece is the true focal point of attention, rather than the wire framework, as is customary in other wirewrapped jewelry. The centerpiece may be enhanced by wiring crystals, pearls, gemstones, or beads of precious metals across or into the framework of the centerpiece, if she determines that they will balance and enhance the beauty of the piece. She takes her design cues from the colors, shapes and textures of the chosen piece.
She does custom design of special occasion and wedding jewelry -- for the bride, bridesmaids, as well as mothers of the bride or groom or presents for the wedding party. Comparison shopping demonstrates that her unique and custom designs are generally more economical than department store jewelry, yet they are matched specifically for her customers' individual needs, colors and taste. |
